Hey y’all!

I’m here looking for a crit partner or group for my WIP, an upper MG/YA set ever-so-slightly in the future that involves “real” magic, deceptions and conspiracy, a whole lot of emphasis on family relationships, and the importance of truth.

Wow, that doesn’t sound like it at all. I really need to work on that one-sentence synopsis 😉

I especially love YA without swearing/sex — I don’t think it’s necessary, and I write for a slightly younger audience anyway. My writing style is a little more like pre-teen crushes and “daggone”/”bloody hell”/”shoot” and less like making-out-til-our-faces-turn-the-colour-of-an-apple (or worse) and… well, it wouldn’t be appropriate to write that stuff here!

Not that I’m a prude (I have a daughter and quite a few drunken-sailor moments to prove that, btw), I just love the innocent, magical quality of children’s literature from days-gone-by. And if Harry Potter has anything to say about it, those kinds of books are long from dead.

I’m looking for someone to swap chapters with who will be critical and honest. My current beta readers are family members, so the only criticism I’ve received is “Don’t use words like ‘detritus’ because I don’t want to have to grab a dictionary.”

If any of that sounds interesting, give me a shout!
