I would have to answer like this…

If your story only deals with only the romantic relationships between her husband and her lover and no others, and if the heroine doesn’t change or learn something about herself or grow internally, if she lets circumstances dictate her choices rather than herself or self growth, and if it ends happily ever after then I would say Romance.

However, if your story deals with and incorporates more than the heroine’s romantic relationships (like her relationship with her mother or children or siblings or a best friend, or therapists, etc), if self learning and internal growth (finding out about herself) and a ‘coming into her own’ are a big part of the story, and if the story doesn’t end happily (even open ended) then I would say Women’s Fiction.

From the bit you described, I agree with Cathy, it does sound more like Women’s Fiction.

Good luck!

LOL, I posted this before I looked to see who sent it. Is this the story I critiqued? Have you changed it to be that she’s married to Troy when she meets Ben? If its not the same story, then it still sounds like WF to me: )
