    {Written by LWC member Laura Ann Swanson. Thanks Laura!}

    That’s why most of us came here, right? 😀

    Utilizing the tools of this website:

    1) Hover Over the “Get Started” tab at the top of the page, a drop down menu will appear. Click on the option called “Search for a Partner”

    2)Once the search page has come up first choose whether to search by all the members of the entire site, or just the people who have accepted your friends request.
    You can do this by clicking on either “All Members (#)” or “My Friends (#)”.

    3)Decide if you want to search certain words, like “nerdy” or “cupcakes” and you will be returned with results of members who either have that word in their profile, or have posted something containing that word.
    Click the box to the far right that says “Extend Search Options”. This will bring up a new menu of the things people find pertinent in a Crit Partner; ie, Newbie, or Experienced, or Wants Weekly Feedback.
    Then just click the boxes that are most important to you and the results will be others who checked those boxes.

    4) Once you have a search that returns with results ( remember, we are few in numbers right now, you may have to unclick a few boxes to get a result for a while) send a friend request, and start a conversation.
    Open lines of communication and compatible humor are big indicators of whether or not this person will be a good fit. Ask them questions, get to know them, and the rest is up to you.

    TIP: ESPECIALLY if you are new to critting or having a partner (but really everyone could use a refresher), read the Articles on Critiquing under the Get Started tab, and also the FAQ’s.
    Just like every other medium of communication, critting has do’s and don’ts and you are much more likely to form a long lasting relationship with your partner(s) if you figure these out BEFORE you get started.

    Good Luck, and Good Critting!
