    Hello Advisor/s?
I wrote a novella that I’m fairly happy with, but the protagonist is a young woman whose parents are illegal immigrants. She lies and says she’s Portuguese to avoid perceived racism. is this anything that would ever happen? Could this situation itself be perceived as racially insensitive? I certainly wouldn’t want that and won’t try to publish it if it’s a problem. The parents are struggling with poverty in AZ. Again, is this reinforcing a stereotype that should be left alone? Any thoughts would be appreciated:) Thank you!
