I’m on the hunt for a dedicated CP who’s interested in exchanging chapters once a week, more if you have time/are interested. Manuscript is still in the works, but I have plenty to give you while I work on revising future chapters. Final MS is roughly~100k. So, if you have a long-ish YA fantasy MS too, please let me know!
In short, my MS is about two friends (a princess and her healer) who get sent to a dark/magical land as spies after a bloody coup. It’s told from the healer’s POV, not the princess’s.
I have a (very rough) query if you want to see it via DM. The story definitely leans towards the darker side of things, but isn’t without a good helping of lighthearted fun and humor (can’t have too much heaviness). While there is some violence, it’s very limited and not terribly graphic.
Plot-wise: Lots of drama, lots of political intrigue, and so much betrayal. So, so much. Oh, and don’t forget some romance 😉
As far as themes, it’s about friendship, identity, expanding one’s perspective, and learning how to become independent. There are LGBTQ characters (the two friends are not lesbian) and a diverse cast in terms of appearances.
I’m a careful editor and fast reader, and I have a good eye for evaluating plot/character consistency and flow.
Ideally, I like to get to know my CP on a personal level as well, but if you just want a business relationship, that’s cool too! Leave a note and we can exchange queries/first chapters! 🙂February 26, 2018 at 11:30 am #7726
Hi there! I don’t normally write fantasy but I am currently writing a rather long fantasy novel, and I’d be willing to trade manuscripts. I also have a finished historical YA novel that I would love to trade with someone first–I know that’s not fantasy, but would you be willing to consider it? It’s about a teenage boy trying to deal with leaving his family, including his disabled brother and alcoholic father, for Chicago in the late 1940s. It deals with identity, family, friendship, etc., and there’s a tiny bit of romance.
I have experience critiquing and do have a query letter for this novel. Let me know if you’re interested!February 26, 2018 at 12:11 pm #7727
